Tutorial Thursday: Gaining Blog Traffic
I'm always out to find new ways and fun ideas to gain blog traffic. It's a good feeling to know people like what you're writing and to hear from them or see them "following" your blog or tweets.
So, I've compiled a list of my favorite ways to gain blog traffic...here we go.
1. Make lists. I, by nature am a list maker. I make lists for groceries, "to do's", apps I want to download for my phone, etc. Why not use it on my blog? Make a list...people will be drawn to it.
2. Be timeless. And by this I mean, write about things that will be fun to read in 6 months or a year.
3. Don't write about boring things such as your cat. Honestly? People dont want to or care to read about that on a daily basis. Make it fun.
4. Answer your emails and comments on your blog. People will get tired of reading if they comment and ask questions and hear nothing back from the writer.
5. Use photos, clipart, something to help the reader visualize.
6. Have relevant ads on your blog. People love to find more info about what youre blogging about. Have your ads clickable as well.
7. Always "tweak" your template. Make it fun and up to date with the rest of the blogs out there. You don't want to have a blog that looks and feels out of date.
8. Majority of your posts should be on weekdays--thats when you will have the most readers. You can post as well on weekends, but weekdays should be prime time for you and your blog.
9. Be patient. It does take time to build "traffic" but it will come if you stick with it.
10. Use social networking tools...facebook, twitter, myspace, link exchanges, blog hops, etc.

I have one more to add...have contests! :) I'm actually hosting a contest for my new site now and maybe you'd be interested in participating? It's a Mom Blogger Contest for $100 Cash prize during the month of April for MissTutu.com.
The details are here http://www.misstutu.com/mom-blogger-contest.html
Thanks for considering! I think your readers will really enjoy this too since they get a free tutu making lesson!
