Philippians 2:13-15
Philippians 2:13-15 (New International Version)
13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.
Why are these two verses so hard to put into practice? We live in a society that what we have is never enough. We always want more money, want more food, want more clothes, want a newer and nicer car, a bigger house, and the list goes on and on.
But when was the last time we were happy and felt blessed with what we have? When was the last time we stopped right before we complained about one of these things or something else?
It has been on my heart lately to put these verses into practice. Instead of saying "Why do my kids have to be sick all the time?" I say, "We are blessed they aren't in the hospital or have a terminal illness." Or instead of saying "If we could just make it to this level of success, we'd be set" I'm finding myself saying "We are RICH to the rest of the world and we have so much to be thankful for. Our home is filled with love, laughter, the Lord, and we have a roof over our head and food on the table. Life is good."
I see so many relationships end because of complaining and arguing. How heartbreaking that is to our heavenly father. He calls us to love one another and be thankful. So why is that so hard to follow?
So, I encourage you today to "do everything without complaining or arguing". Watch how your life turns around. Instead of being negative and a negative spirit, you'll have the spirit of joy.
