Our First Week
We are coming to a close on our first "official" week of school here! And it's been a blast! I'm very excited about what this school year will bring our way. My little man is loving every minute of learning and doing fun activities together. Here is a run down from our week.
1. We re-read the "Charlie & Trike in the Grand Canyon Adventure" and talked about rocks, the flood, Noah, and how we must always obey God, even when others dont believe what we think to be true. God is the ultimate Father and he knows what is best for us.
2. We did Lessons 1-5 in the Alpha Omega Horizons PreK Workbook. I can't say enough good things about this curriculum. I'm excited to use it in the upcoming years as well. Alpha Omega has everything put together so the teacher/homeschool parent doesn't have to do much lesson planning, if at all. It's all laid out to a "T" on lessons, ideas, worksheets, etc. Everything you need for your curriculum. No more searching for multiple books, publishers, and ideas. It's all in one with Horizons.
This week we talked about Dad's and our Heavenly Father - how God created the heavens and the earth. Little man learned about how God is always there for us and how he knows exactly what we need and when.
Our Dad's are special and we love them for many reasons. We listed the reasons why we love our Dad and why we love our ultimate dad, God. For music time, we sang "Daddy, Daddy, We Love You" (to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star!) We also made a "Dad card" to give to our Dad to tell him why we love him so much. Little Man will explain his card to his dad tonight after he is home from work as well as explain that God is also our Dad and loves us so much.
This week's letter is the letter "A". While Little Man is passed this in knowing his letters, numbers, and writing, it still is a great way to review. Instead of skipping over the basic concepts he already knows and jumping to something new, we are going to review until we make it to something new.
3. We also are working on ClickNKids Phonics. I love ClickNKids products and highly suggest them to my readers. Be watching for a review of this product on the 28th of September on my blog.
One of my favorite things from this week's schooling is hearing my son say "Mrs. Mom, you're the best teacher ever!" He had a choice to continue going to his PreK for 3 mornings a week or to stay home and let me teach him and he chose to stay home and LOVES it! Everyday when school is over he wants to do more and can't wait to start tomorrow's lesson! I love that he is really digging in! Go Homeschooling!
Today, I'm linking up with the Bona Fide Showcase - come join in!
