Our Homeschooling Week
I love fall! It's my favorite time of year. This week, we've done our work in our Alpha Omega Horizons workbooks and talked about fall and Halloween. We acknowledge that Halloween is meant to be fun and games and nothing scary or gory. We participate in Halloween but just the fun side of it. We have tried on our Halloween costumes and made pumpkins and ghosts. We even made Halloween cookies this week.
I love that we use Alpha Omega. The ideas and content they have in their curriculum is outstanding. My 4 year old is reading and memorizing scripture so much easier than before using them! A great idea Alpha Omega had in their lesson plan book was to write on two separate pieces of construction paper (use two different colors) the memory verse for that week. This week, our memory verse is Psalm 90:12 So, I did just that and cut up the pieces so they were in rectangles (the best I could to make them all match, but it wasn't perfect) :) Once they were cut up, I put them in order of how it should read. We read the verse together a couple of times, then I explained to him that it was his turn to put the words in order and then say it out loud once he had it completed. The video below shows him doing just that and with a little help, he had it in no time! We will be using this method in the future for memorizing scripture. Thanks Alpha Omega!
I also have him doing journal entries. Whether its drawings or writing words, we've started and he loves showing it off!
We've also completed up through lesson 72 in our Horizons workbook. He's loving the worksheets and I'm learning more about his learning style through this. Some of the pictures below show him working hard on his schoolwork. I cannot believe we are almost done with one of the two workbooks he has for this school year. It's flying by! Thanks Alpha Omega for everything!
